Twitter for iPhone: Νέα αναβάθμιση

Η έκδοση του twitter για το iPhone αναβαθμίστηκε στην έκδοση 4.1 με νέα χαρακτηριστικά αλλά και τις απαραίτητες διορθώσεις σε σημαντικές ελλείψεις χαρακτηριστικών.

Γεγονός είναι ότι το προσφάτως ανανεωμένο περιβάλλον χρήσης της mobile εφαρμογής παρουσίαζε πολλές ελλείψεις (βλ. Thinks missing from new twitter iPhone app) οι οποίες έστρεψαν τους χρήστες σε εναλλακτικές προτάσεις. Η νέα αναβάθμιση σκοπεύει να διορθώσει τα κακώς κείμενα και τις σημαντικές ελλείψεις του τελευταίου major update (twitter 4.0).

Η δυνατότητα Copy/Paste των tweets, αλλά και των links που αυτά περιέχουν, επέστρεψε όπως επίσης και η επιλογή αυξομείωσης του μεγέθους γραμματοσειράς. Σημαντική είναι και η προσθήκη swipe shortcuts για γρήγορες ενέργειες όπως Reply, RT, Favorite και Share μέσα από το Timeline.

Όσον αφορά τα DM (direct messages) επέστρεψε η δυνατότητα επιλογής όλων των μηνυμάτων ως διαβασμένα.

Η πλήρης λίστα των νέων χαρακτηριστικών:

• Swipe shortcut: Swipe a Tweet in your home timeline to reply to, retweet, favorite or share it, or view the Twitter user’s profile, without leaving your timeline.
• Copy and paste: We’ve returned the ability to copy and paste the text of Tweets and user profiles. Just press and hold to copy.
• Link love: The “share” feature used to just give you the option to copy or email a link to a Tweet. Now, if there’s a link within a Tweet, you’ll see the option to tweet, copy or mail that link, or you can choose to read it later. (Select a “Read Later Service” under Settings > Advanced.) Pressing and holding links provides similar options, along with the ability to open the link in Safari.
• Font size settings: Change the font size under Settings > Advanced.
• Direct messages: We updated the design for Direct Messages and returned the ability to mark all DMs as read. Simply tap the check mark in the lower right corner.
• Find friends: We’ve added a confirmation alert when you select “Find friends”. This notification more clearly and explicitly messages the fact that when you upload your contacts’ email addresses and phone numbers, you can quickly find which of your friends are on Twitter (that is, if they’ve chosen to be discoverable by email or phone number).
• Improved startup time and general performance improvement
• Improved image quality in tweet detail
• Accessibility improvements
• Profile shows whether a user follows you
• Verified badges in people search results
• New language: Turkish
• Lots of other polish and bug fixes

Η αναβάθμιση του twitter iPhone app έρχεται λίγες ημέρες μετά την κυκλοφορία του Tweetbot 2.0 το οποίο φαίνεται να κερδίζει συνεχώς έδαφος στις καρδιές των χρηστών του δημοφιλούς κοινωνικού δικτύου.
