Η Samsung θα διαθέσει πρώτη tablet με retina οθόνη (;)

Σύμφωνα με δημοσίευμα του BGR η Samsung ετοιμάζεται να λανσάρει ένα νέο tablet με οθόνη διαστάσεων 11.6″ και ανάλυση 2560×1600 (16:10) ξεπερνώντας αρκετά την φημολογούμενη Retina οθόνη του επερχόμενου iPad 3 στα 2048×1536.

H Samsung είχε παρουσιάσει μια τέτοια οθόνη τον περασμένο Μάιο στην SID Display Week 2011 International Symposium αλλά τότε γινόταν χρήση της τεχνολογίας PenTile για να επιτευχθεί η υψηλή ανάλυση κάτι που έχει σημαντικά μειονεκτήματα.

The PenTile display uses a series of local filter operations to convert the underlying image into display intensities, including convolution, thresholding, color curve adjustment, and postprocessing with locally-adaptive filters. In practice, this means the display blurs the red and blue channels by dispersing these color intensities to the nearest subpixel element of the right color, and then also implements subpixel positioning to increase the apparent resolution again. However, subpixel spacing is not constant across the display, making the real apparent resolution complicated to estimate

Γνωρίζουμε ότι το iPad 3 ως φυσικό επακόλουθο θα διαθέτει Retina οθόνη διπλασιάζοντας ουσιαστικά την ανάλυση του iPad 2. Ωστόσο, μέχρι στιγμής δεν έχει γίνει γνωστή η ημερομηνία κυκλοφορίας της συσκευής αν και αναμένεται κατά τα γνωστά τον Μάρτιο ή Απρίλιο. Μέχρι στιγμής έχουν αναφερθεί προβλήματα στην παραγωγή των οθονών αυτών αλλά φήμες αναφέρουν ότι η Apple έχει στραφεί και σε άλλους κατασκευαστές εκτός της Samsung.
